Who is Eligible for the Program?

In order to participate in the TEFL Certification Program, a Bachelor's degree is preferred, as most employers now require this in addition to the TEFL Teaching Certificate. We do consider applicants who have not earned a Bachelor's degree on a case-by-case basis, and applicants who have a significant teaching background are strong candidates for admission to the program. All applicants are asked to submit a resume and/or academic transcripts with the application, as well as a 300 word essay describing the reasons for a desire to pursue English language teaching as a career path.

Our program integrates non-native English speakers with native speakers, making the program a rich and insightful experience for all participants. We prefer our non-native participants to have scored at least 250 on the CBT (Computer Based TOEFL Test) or 100 on the IBT (Internet based TOEFL Test). A brief telephone interview will also be required, to ensure that language proficiency will not impede the learning of English Language concepts and methodologies throughout the course.
