Summer English courses for Kids and Teens in England

International Junior English Summer Camp and School for Children Teens in Cambridge

In Cambridge, we offer a Family Program for Parents with Children (5-15) and two more Summer English programs for children and teens:

  • Residential International English Summer Camp for 12 - 17 year olds on the Abbey College campus located on the southern edge of Cambridge's city centre and only a 25 minute walk from the city's historic heart. Students stay in the student residence on campus.

  • International English Summer School on campus of Chesterton Community College, a newly-extended and refurbished secondary school in a near-central location with excellent on-site facilities. This program is designed for 5 - 16 year old young people and offers English classes and afternoon social activities. Accommodations are not included.

    Abbey College Cambridge has established itself as one of the best independent sixth form colleges in the United Kingdom. Students have a track record of outstanding academic and personal achievement, and many move on to join the UK's best universities every year. In 2016 one quarter of graduates joined one of the traditional 'top 5' UK universities (Oxford, Cambridge, LSE, Imperial and University College London), and 62% of graduates joined a member of the 'Russell Group' of elite universities.

    Junior Summer Camp in Cambridge, EnglandSummer camp students study for 20 lessons per week in international classes of up to 16 students. Each lesson lasts for 50 minutes. On their first day students take a test to ensure they are placed in an appropriate level. There are five levels of study, from elementary to advanced. All students receive an end-of-course certificate.

    All our teachers are graduates with recognised TEFL certificates, and are extensively briefed on the particular needs of young learners. The language is brought to life through a vibrant and functional approach. In addition to formal language skills training, lessons include project work, videos, games and use a wide variety of modern English language teaching resources.

    Summer Camp Program Details:

    • Minimum stay is 2 weeks
    • Campus capacity is 65 students
    • Summer Programs for students from 12 to 17 years of age. We can also accept 9 to 11 year olds, but they must be accompanied by an older sibling
    • 20 lessons per week in the mornings
    • Residential accommodation in single rooms with private bathroom
    • All meals
    • One full day excursion per week

Summer Camp Activities in CambridgeThe Cambridge programme takes place within a closed campus, which is ideally suited to young learners. The bright classrooms are fully equipped with the latest interactive technology and an on-site dining hall provides a range of freshly cooked meals. The fully enclosed accommodation block is located just across the road from the main campus building making this residential course the ideal option for our younger students who will flourish in this highly protective environment.

The halls of residence offer a safe and secure environment for our students. The residence is modern and comfortable. Facilities include:

Summer Camp Activities in Cambridge

There are full-day and half-day excursions every week. Full-day excursions include London, Canterbury, Windsor and Oxford. Half-day excursions include Peterborough Cathedral, Punting on the River, and Cambridge University College visits. There is also a full social programme every afternoon and evening, including a choice of sports (swimming, table tennis, basketball, volleyball, football) as well as other activities including movie nights, drum workshops, karaoke night, student discos, bowling and many more.

Summer Camp Accommodations

Summer Camp Accommodation in CambridgeIn Cambridge all students are accommodated in single rooms. The accommodation is in a modern residence. The accommodation is very safe, with our staff staying on-site, as well as the residence's own night-time security.

English Summer School on campus of Chesterton Community College

Junior Summer School is open to students between the ages of 5 and 16 years. (Students aged 16+ can join our adult programs.) Children from 5-9 join our special Early Learners groups. Older students are placed in classes selected by age and level.

You can book English classes only or full-day program with afternoon social activities. Additional afternoon private one-to-one English classes are also avaialble.

English Classes Only Module is compulsory for all students and includes:

  • 20 lessons (15 hours) per week, 09.20 - 12.35, Monday to Friday, studying in groups selected for age and level of English.
  • Special program for Early Learners (children 5 - 9 years).
  • Maximum 15 students per class (max. 12 for Early Learners)
  • Junior students will be asked to take a placement test in advance of their arrival to ensure they are placed in the correct class

After a supervised lunch break, students can join our experienced activity leaders for an afternoon of fun and stimulating activities - sports, excursions, cultural visits... Packed lunch included, Monday-Friday.

  • Host Families. Our experienced and friendly hosts provide students with a bed, breakfast and dinner, and the chance to experience British culture!

    You can choose from shared or private bathroom, single rooms, twin rooms, and options for families. Prices start from GBP 26 per person per night.

  • If you prefer your own space, more flexibility with meals, or want to make new friends, we can help you find the perfect place to stay from a choice of good quality accommodation in Cambridge.

    You can choose from a bed in a shared dorm at the local youth hostel, bed & breakfast at a small guesthouse, or a hotel close to the centre of town.

    B&B, 80-110 per night
    Hostel, 20-65 per night

A placement fee of 35 applies to all accommodation bookings.
