We use a communicative approach, which aims in particular to improve speaking and listening skills. We also help you develop your reading and writing abilities. Morning lessons cover new grammar, structures and vocabulary, according to your needs and priorities. Afternoon classes focus specifically on extending your range of vocabulary and idioms on topics chosen by you, and on improving your fluency and accuracy. We make use of London as a learning environment and provide lots of opportunities for you to learn as much authentic English as possible.
We want you to derive as much benefit as possible during your stay with us. On your first day (or before you arrive) you will be asked to complete a short test, enabling us to assess your level of English. You will then be placed in the class most suitable for your level, from beginner through to advanced. If you discover that the lessons are too difficult (or too easy), then you can talk to your teacher and the Director of Studies.
Your lessons will be carefully planned and tailored to your needs, and a weekly syllabus is posted in your classroom. Furthermore, your teachers will help you to identify your strengths and weaknesses and to maximize your learning through independent study, using our extensive facilities and resources in the Self Access Center. Tutorials are held every two weeks to monitor your learning, and there are regular tests to assess your progress.
Students for General English classes must be aged 16 years or over, except where stated. Lessons last 50 minutes in all cases. Supplementary materials and unlimited use of Self Access and computer facilities are included in the tuition fee.
At our School there is a strict maximum of 12 students per General/Intensive English course, and a maximum 5 students for Group Executive classes.
