in Reading, England:

Reading

Famous for its maritime heritage and home to the Titanic, Reading is a modern vibrant city in the beautiful Thames Valley countryside only 70 km from Central London. The historic town has grown into a major commercial city with modern shopping centres and leisure facilities. It is 30 minutes from Oxford and one hour from the South Coast with excellent transport links to other parts of the country.

Heathrow Airport is only 30 minutes away and Gatwick Airport less than an hour.




The Campus

The Reading programme takes place within a closed campus, which is ideally suited to young learners. The campus is surrounded by parkland and is on the edge of the city itself, giving easy access to its attractions.

Residence facilities include a bright, modern dining room, common rooms, a computer room for student use, vending machines, laundry facilities and a large common room for social events. The sports hall is a short walk away with facilities for basketball, volleyball, tennis and football. Swimming is available at a nearby school. We also arrange discos and other fun events, all for junior students only.

Classes take place in the modern Science Building, a short walk through parkland from the residence.




Accommodation

In Reading all students are accommodated in single rooms and all meals are in the same building. Each room has a LAN connection to the Internet for students' laptops. The accommodation is very safe, with staff members staying on-site, as well as the residence's own night-time security.

English Language Programme

Students study for 20 lessons per week in international classes of up to 15 students. Each lesson lasts for 50 minutes. On their first day students take a test to ensure they are placed in an appropriate level. There are six levels of study, from beginner to advanced. All students receive an end-of-course certificate.

All our teachers are graduates with recognised TEFL certificates, and are extensively briefed on the particular needs of young learners. The language is brought to life through a vibrant and functional approach. In addition to formal language skills training, lessons include project work, videos, games and use a wide variety of modern English language teaching resources.




Activity Programme

The programme includes one full-day and one half-day excursion per week. Full-day excursions are to London, Brighton, Bath and the Isle of Wight. Half-day excursions are to Winchester, The New Forest, Bournemouth, Portsmouth and Stonehenge.

There is also a full social programme every afternoon and evening, including a variety of sports (e.g. football, volleyball, basketball) and other activities (e.g. film shows, discos, bowling) and visits to local sites of interest.
