Mandarin Chinese Language Program.
General Information:
Mandarin Chinese Language Program is located on a University campus in Taichung and offers classes from beginner to advanced levels. There are over 200 foreign students from over 25 different countries taking part in classes. The current age range is from 18 to 50 with no age limit.
The Director of our University Mandarin Chinese Language Program has taught Mandarin studies in the USA for over 15 years and is also the author of the textbook "Practical Chinese", which is widely used by students of all levels in Taiwan.
On or before arrival in Taiwan, students initially enrol for one semester (3 months) or one year. One-semester program will provide them with basic conversation skills needed for every day living in Taiwan, and which can be developed further during continued periods of study.
Students who study Mandarin for 10 hours a week are entitled to visa extensions in order to continue their studies. These extensions will be granted up to two months at a time, for a maximum total period of 6 months.
After 4 months of study it is possible to apply for resident visa through the university, which allows for indefinite stays in Taiwan. The initial length of this visa will depend on paying tuition fees in advance for the length of stay required.
