This is an academic-year course running from end of August through May.
It is divided into 2 terms (Term I: August - December, Term II: January
- May) which may be taken separately or combined assuming you meet the
language entry requirement for Term II.
It has been designed for students who want to not only attain a high level
of Spanish but also want to study the history, culture and way of life
of the Andalucians and Spaniards in general.
TERM 1
Beginning towards the end of August you follow the Intensive Course of
general Spanish until the end of December. You can start this course as
a total beginner.
Students with a higher level of Spanish can join this course at 4 week
intervals.
Objective:
To prepare students for Term II, covering levels Beginner 1 & 2, Intermediate
1, 2 & 3 and Advanced 1
TERM 2
This begins in January each year and combines advanced Spanish with the
study of aspects of Spanish history and culture.
The level of the teaching of the cultural content is pre-university.
Term II is divided up into five 4-week units so that students who have
the level of Spanish required can take the entire Term or just a 4-week
unit or combine consecutive units.
Objective:
- Cover levels Advanced 2 to Proficiency 2 and prepare students for the DELE Básico exam
.
- Provide an overview of the history, culture and way of life of the
Andalucians and Spaniards.
- Provide some of the content required by students preparing for the
Selectividad University Entrance examination.
Observations
- For students staying more than 24 weeks, this is the course for you.
You will gain the all-important knowledge of Spanish life and culture
that will set you apart as not only a fluent speaker of Spanish but
a person who understands Spain and the Spaniards - a job-earning skill!
- If you cannot spare the time for the entire course, but you do have
the level of Spanish required, you can enrol for 1 or more consecutive
4-week units
