Students from all over the world come to to learn English at our School. Learning English in Cape Town means far more than just language training - it means experiencing one of the most beautiful cities in the world. Two oceans, Table Mountain, a melting pot of different cultures - the gateway to an exotic, vibrant African continent.



Visas and Application Deadlines

    Citizens of Argentina, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Denmark, Ecuador, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Israel, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxemburg, Netherlands, Norway, Paraguay, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States of America, Uruguay and Venezuela and other countries in possession of a valid passport, are not required to obtain a visa for South Africa for a period of up to 90 days if traveling as a tourist. In this case, we must receive a complete set of application documents and fees no later than 30 days before the program starts. Acceptance of late applications is subject to space availability.

    However, if you are required to obtain a visa to South Africa, we suggest to apply as early as possible. Please consult the South African consulate or embassy closest to you to find out about visa requirements.

How to apply?

  • Online. You may apply online only if you pay an application fee and a tuition deposit online by credit card. We accept VISA and MasterCard. In our Online Secure Application Form, we utilize the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) authentication and RC4 128 bit encryption technology. SSL encryption protects information being transmitted across the internet to our processing center.

  • You can also send your application by Fax or Mail. Just print out a Monospaced Printable Application Form from your browser, complete it and send your application by fax or mail. If you decide to use a Monospaced Printable Application Form, you can pay the application fee and the tuition deposit by credit card, certified (cashiers) check, money order or wire transfer. You will find detailed payment instructions on the application form.

Please send us the folowing:

  1. Completed application (printable or online).

  2. An autobiographical essay including reasons for wishing to study abroad.

  3. A non-refundable application fee of US$100 and a tuition deposit of US$200. If you apply less than 30 days before the program starts, please also send a last minute bookings supplement of US$60.00. The above fees and deposit are part of the cost of your program and are deducted from the total of the program fees after conversion them in Euro according to the current local exchange rate. Please note that your application will be considered only when your payment of the application fee and the tuition deposit has been received.

    Upon receiving your application and your payment of the required fee(s) and the tuition deposit, we will send you a registration confirmation and invoice for the balance due. The balance may be paid in Euro or in U.S. Dollars. Please note that normally we must receive a full payment of the program fees at least 30 days before the commencement of your program.

    You may pay by wire transfer, certified (cashiers) check, money order, or by credit card. We accept Visa and Mastercard. You will find payment details on the Application forms.

Terms and Conditions

General

  1. IPSA and Member Schools are not liable in any cases of force majeure (according to the law) or for actions of the students and their consequences.
  2. The minimum age for students is 18, unless accompanied to South Africa by a parent, guardian or teacher.
  3. The school reserves the right to ask any student who acts in a detrimental way to the institute, its property, its staff, the other students or the student's host family to leave the institute. The school has a strict no drugs policy. Any students found to be using illegal narcotics at the institute, at their accommodation or on any excursions organised or suggested by the institute, will be asked to leave immediately. Students will not be refunded the balance of their course and accommodation fees and airport or bus transfers will not be given. The school will also not be responsible for the costs of returning the student to their home country or for any legal costs arising from such a situation.
  4. The school/IPSA does not accept responsibility for the loss of or damage to any student's possessions or the wrongful act of anyone in the employment of or acting on behalf of the institute. Nor do we accept responsibility for the personal injury or death of any student, before, during and / or after any course with us, during their stay in any accommodation provided by or suggested by us, or on any excursion, outing or tour organised or suggested by us.
  5. We strongly suggest all students take out comprehensive travel, medical, personal, repatriationand course insurance before they leave their home countries.

Courses

  1. We will try everything we can to offer you your chosen course, but we can only be sure of your level of English once we have interviewed you on the first day of the course. Sometimes there are not enough students at a particular level to run a course. Should only one student apply to study a particular course that student will receive, in the afternoons, 10 one-to-one lessons instead of the usual 20 lessons allotted to a group of students, and 5 one-to-one lessons instead of the usual 10 lessons allotted to a group of students. Duration per lesson is 50 minutes.
  2. It's your responsibility to arrive for lessons on time. If you miss lessons or are late for lessons, you will not be refunded or be able to make them up at a later date.
  3. Public holidays during the student year: One-to-one lessons that have been missed due to public holidays will be made up to a student at a date that is convenient to both lecturer and student.

Cancellations and refunds

    Refunds will be given under the following circumstances:

    • If we receive a written cancellation (by fax, email, post or delivery) 29 days or more before your course is scheduled to begin, we will refund 100% of your fees, minus any non-refundable items, cancellation fee of €150 and bank and transfer costs.
    • If we receive your written cancellation 15 to 28 days before your course is scheduled to start, we will refund 50% of your fees, minus any non-refundable items, cancellation fee of €150 and bank and transfer costs.
    • Fees will not be refunded if cancellations, written or otherwise, are received 14 days or less before your course is scheduled to begin. In no case money will be refunded once the course and/or lodging has started. The School does not reimburse classes that coincide with official holidays.
