Itinerary
- Day 1: Cape Town - West Coast - Olifants River at Clanwilliam.
- Day 2: Leave Cedarberg area to Orange River in Namibia.
- Day 3: Option to canoe through the Richtersveld National Park.
- Day 4: Fish River Canyon.
- Day 5: Duwisib Castle.
- Day 6: Sesriem Canyon - Sossusvlei sand dunes.
- Day 7: Namib Naukluft National Park - Swakopmund.
- Day 8: Explore Swakopmund - option to enjoy adventure activities: Sandboarding or Quad biking.
- Day 9: Cape Cross - Twyfelfontein.
- Day 10: Rock Paintings - Burnt Mountain - Organ Pipes - Petrified Forest - overnight at Okaukuejo, Etosha National Park.
- Day 11: Etosha National Park - Halali.
- Day 12: Caprivi Strip - Rundu.
- Day 13: Visit traditional villages - Rundu.
- Day 14/15/16/17: Overnight at Ngepi Camp - Option to spend exploring the swamps and waterways.
- Day 18: Bushcamp at Katimo Mulilo.
- Day 19: Cross into Zimbabwe to Victoria Falls - tour officially ends.
- Day 20/21: Students who wish to enjoy all the adventure activities can stay with the Epic truck and return back to Cape Town.

An overland expedition is an adventure tour undertaken in a specially designed and customised truck. Teamwork and participation form an integral part of the trip with everybody helping out with the cooking, fetching of firewood, cleaning up and general setting up of the camp. If you are not prepared to contribute to the running of the tour you may have to choose something else. This is a journey to expose you to the African way of life - discovering wildlife, cultures, scenery and experiencing adventure. A low budget tour which fulfils the dreams of youth to discover Africa. The age group ranges between 18 and 45, there is no discrimination, as long as you are suited to the nature of the tour.
Accommodation:
Evenings are spent in spacious two-man dome tents, waterproofed with built-in mosquito netting and sewn-in groundsheets. Clients provide their own sleeping bag, ground pad and torch.
Meals and cooking:
You will be guided by your Tour Courier to participate with preparing and cooking three good meals a day - including a hot breakfast; cold meat, salads and fruit lunch; and a hot supper. A Bar is run by an elected Client, with the profit used for an end-of-tour celebration!
Vehicle and equipment:
Reliable specially adapted overland trucks are used, with comfortable seating arranged for your optimal viewing. All group equipment is provided which includes tents, cutlery, crockery, stoves, an axe and shovel, tables, stools and camp lighting. Clients are welcome to bring their own music. A medical kit is also available, but passengers need to bring their own personal medical kit.
Passport/Visa:
A valid passport is required for the duration of the expedition with at least 6 blank pages for entry stamps and necessary visas. The trip passes through Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe . Please ensure that you have the necessary visas for entry into those countries. Also keep a separate copy of your passport details, as a safety back-up during your expedition. A valid onward/return air ticket or proof of other means of transport enabling you to leave Zimbabwe is essential when you enter the country.
Currency:
We recommend you take Rand or US Dollars in cash or traveller cheques.
Conditions:
We reserve the right to change the schedule of the tour due to unforeseen circumstances. The School and their service providers shall not be responsible for and shall be exempt from any liability in respect of any loss, damage, injury, accident, delay or inconvenience to any person, or his or her luggage or other personal property, wherever the same shall arise from or be occasioned by the negligence of Cape Studies, their service providers or agents or other persons directly in the employ or service of the company or otherwise under any circumstances whatsoever. We strongly advise you to take out insurance for your health and personal belongings.
