At the Portuguese language school in Porto, Portugal, we are aware that students and 'language travellers' don't just study a new language, they study a whole new culture. While we offer great value for money, we realise that for this reason many students look beyond simple price comparisons and seek a course that offers the opportunity to understand and participate in a new culture while they study. That's why we are offering the following two courses free to our portuguese language students of two weeks or more this summer.
Fado music course
Fado music, with its haunting and melancholy melodies, usually accompanied by a single guitar, is one of the most enduring images of Portugal abroad. It is also an integral part of Portuguese culture and an expression of the Portuguese mentality. This course offers students the chance to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of this uniquely Portuguese form of music. The course comprises of five one-hour lessons spread across five days.
History of Portugal course
Portugal, the seafaring nation that connected Europe with much of West Africa, India and the Far East, has a long and fascinating history as an independent nation. In an engaging course of five one-hour lessons, students will gain an understanding of major events in Portuguese history and their continuing relevance today.
While these courses are offered all year round at a price of €120 each, students of two weeks or more (commencing in July, August or September) have the option of taking one of these courses absolutely free.
