English Language School in Christchurch:
ESL Program and Courses.

Our Method of Teaching English

Our communicative approach to teaching English, where situational English for everyday use is given a high priority, ensures active student participation, and makes learning enjoyable. With the help of small classes and our experienced staff you will quickly make progress in all aspects of your English language development.

New students are provided with an assessment test and interview, then placed in classes according to their English level. A full orientation is provided to new students covering matters such as school life, homestays, bus and banking services, after-school activities, school facilities, local attractions etc.

Students are individually advanced to higher levels as competence is attained at each class level.

In the mornings, classes are taught the four skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking with special attention being given to vocabulary development and grammar.

In the afternoon classes, special emphasis is placed on listening and speaking in the context of conversational development.

Teaching mediums include modern texts, newspaper and news item study, videos, tapes, debates, drama, music, role play, language games, topical discussions, class excursions, situational English and practical language skills.

A certificate is awarded upon graduation. Students studying for 12 weeks or longer are also presented with academic progress reports.
