English Language School in Valletta, Malta:
English Language Courses.

At our English Language School in Valletta, Malta, we want you to learn as much as you can during your stay with us. Our methodology is based on the communicative, task-based approach, which gives you the opportunity to practise and use your English in situations similar to the ones you will encounter in real life.

English Language Programs and Courses:

On your first day you will be asked to complete a short test which will tell us your level of English. There are six levels from beginner through to advanced. You will then be placed in a class most suitable for your level. If you discover that the lessons are too hard (or too easy), then you can discuss this with your teacher and the Director of Studies.

If there is something you know you need help with but do not need to move classes, your teachers are always available to help you either in the lessons or by recommending further self-study reading. Your lessons are carefully planned and the weekly plan is posted in the teaching rooms for you to see what you are learning and the progress achieved. In the Self Access center, linked material gives you the opportunity to reinforce your learning through additional exercises.

English Courses for Adult Learners:

General English.

You can choose from either a 20 lesson per week course for those of you who would like to improve their English and still leave plenty of time for a relaxing holiday, or a more intensive 30 lesson per week program. Individual and semi-individual lessons can also booked and courses that include a combination of 20 group lessons followed by either 5 or 10 individual lessons for those students who wish to combine a general group course with time to focus on special areas of the language or special subjects.

Business English.

These courses can be booked on either a 20 lesson or 30 lesson per week basis. These are group courses and will include a wide range of topics but will typically include English for meetings, negotiating, telephoning, business correspondence, presentation skills and cultural awareness but will largely depend on the needs of the group. For those of you who would like to concentrate on more specialized areas of Business English tuition can be arranged on an individual basis.

Exam Preparation Courses.

We offer exam preparation courses for PET, KET, FCE, CAE, PCE and IELTS.

English for Teachers.

This course is designed for non-native teachers of English and combines advanced language development with aspects of communicative teaching methodology. This course is offered as a basic 20 lesson course or a more intensive 30 lesson course during the summer.

Young Learner English Program, 11-17 years.

Our Young Learner academic program has been designed to take into account the special needs of students of this age group in terms of materials, topics and activities used in class. Our Young Learner School is equipped with the full range of facilities including Internet resources and audio-visual equipment. The course is designed to improve confidence and fluency in the key areas of speaking, listening, reading, writing, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation while having fun in an English-speaking environment.

Special interest and closed-group bookings.

We can provide tailor-made courses throughout the year to suit the requirements of any closed group with particular needs. These could be for example:


• Groups preparing for an examination
• School groups interested in a project-based course
• Groups wanting a specific intensive grammar programme
• Groups who would like to combine learning English with a special interest focus such as Art, Archaeology, History, Culture and Traditions of Malta
• or teachers wishing to refresh their methodology and classroom practice

These courses are planned in conjunction with our academic team and the group leader/organizer. Sample materials will be sent in advance and the social programme will be planned in order to tie in with the classroom-based content of the course.
