Our Approach to Teaching Italian

Our teaching method includes a balanced integration of the communicative and grammatical approaches. We place equal emphasis on the activities required for learning to speak, understand and organise a coherent conversation in Italian.

Our aim is to teach an alive and current language that is used daily to work and communicate.

Expert, well-prepared and motivated teaching staff. All our teachers have university degrees and speak fluent English (some also speak Japanese, Chinese or Russian).

Among the didactic supports, original materials taken from the mass-media and everyday communication are used. study of Italian language. Movies, TV programs, advertisements allow a deep and up-to-date approach to the study of Italian language.

On the other hand, one of our goals is to link the process of language learning with the acquisition of a wider knowledge of Italian culture. Subjects concerning Italian art and culture are frequently discussed during the lessons, and a part of the course (3-5 hours) is held directly in the historical places: our school is just five minutes of walk from the Roman Forum, and we have a special work path "rebuilding ruins by words".

You will experience the magic of Rome: we organise guided outings to the main places of artistic interest in Rome and the surrounding area, as well as day trips to the sea, evening dinners and night-time walking tours around the heart of Rome.

Certificates: At the end of each course and on the basis of a test of linguistic competence, we will issue you a certificate. The price of the testing and of the certificate issuing is included in the price of your course.

5 in 1 Italy and Culture

Whether you are thinking of Michelangelo’s masterpieces, Fellini’s films, Verdi’s Operas, the Divine Comedy or a magnificent plate of spaghetti, this is the course for you.

Sometimes even a good knowledge of the language is just not enough to fully understand the Italians when they talk about things that are very abstract, or on the contrary, very familiar: there is always something missing, that specific cultural knowledge that one can only really learn by living here for years. This is a course that tries (as far as possible) to concentrate those years into 50 hours, to give you in short, a course to … make you feel Italian! (at least for two weeks).

One day the topic will be art, the following lesson on music, another literature, the next cinema and the last day will focus on cooking and enjoying a meal that has been prepared together. The second week it is back to the start again, with interesting new proposals and interesting variations on the same subjects.

The duration of the course at each level: 2 weeks
Number of hours of instruction: 25 hours per week

Individual Lessons

We offer an excellent opportunity to organize autonomously the study of Italian on a very competitive price. Working one-to-one with a teacher is not only the most simple and immediate way of learning a language, but also an ideal solution for those who do not appreciate that much the atmosphere of group lessons or have problems with time-table.

Individual Course

An individual course is a creative journey which takes place between two equidistant poles: a teacher and a student. The former offers all his didactic experience, his culture, his planning capacity, his ability to involve and stimulate. The latter formulates his targets and goals in the best possible way and pursues them with a constant and collaborative participation.

An individual course is a creative journey that takes place between two equidistant poles: a teacher and a student. The teacher offers all his experience, culture, planning capacity, and ability to involve the student in the lessons. On the other hand, the student formulates targets and goals in the best possible way and pursues them with a constant and collaborative participation. An individual course can be aimed at what a student most wants to learn. Some examples include:

    1. learning the basic structures of Italian in the shortest possible time;
    2. resolving some particular problems and gaps in your knowledge, such as a course on the conjunctive tense,
    3. studying Italian terminology dealing with your profession (Business Italian, Italian for Medical Professionals, Italian for Laywers, etc.); or
    4. specific cultural issues.

During the preliminary interview a student together with a teacher defines the methodology, the texts and the audiovisual supports which are the most appropriate to pursue the appointed goals and individual inclinations. It is very important to take into consideration all the previous experience (positive and negative) of learning foreign languages, also different from Italian.

As a matter of fact, you can ask us to teach you in a way that you prefer and that makes learning easier for you. Each individual course is designed according to your personal needs.

Five Levels - Five Goals

Enrolling in our Italian language course, a student has a precise and concrete goal to pursue and we give him the instruments to do so. One of the exclusive advantages is that one can work in a dynamic and stimulating environment, always being in personal contact with the teacher, always studying in very small groups which never exceed 8 people.
Beginners:
This is the course for those who have never studied Italian and who have no knowledge of our language. This method of studying is gradual and progressive, with the main focus on learning basic linguistic structures.
False beginners (elementary):
You have just arrived in Italy, or youì've been living here for a while, but you have only a chaotic and confused knowledge: some words are not really clear, some things you studied at home but have forgotten. This course starts with the basics of the Italian language, but takes into consideration your previous knowledge in order to quicken the learning process.
Intermediate level I:
You speak and understand Italian well enough, but have difficulties expressing yourself. After repeating basic grammar structures, we analyze the most essential points of spoken and written Italian.
Intermediate level II:
The notions acquired previously are developed and improved to provide a structured and complete panorama of grammatical and syntactical structures. One of the course is main aims is to give students agility and mastery of the language in everyday communication.
Advanced level:
You have a good knowledge of Italian, but need to correct some defects and fill gaps in your knowledge of the language. We help you obtain a deeper knowledge of Italian syntax and grammar, enrich your vocabulary and create oral and written texts by yourself. Our small groups give you an opportunity to examine and resolve any doubts you might have had for years about using the Italian language.
