Frequentley Asked Questions

What is the minimum age to attend the school or take a course? The minimum age is 18 years old, without a parent authorisation. If you are younger than 18, we require a parent authorisation.

When do I need a Visa? A VISA is needed for everyone outside the EU. However for some countries like Australia, Argentina, Japan, Hungary and some others, you can enter Italy without applying for a Visa if the stay doesn't exceed 90 days. If you want to know exactely if you need a Visa or not, you can check it on the website of the Italian Ministery of Foreign Affairs.

What kind of insurance do I need? The school has a 'collective' student liability insurance in the school area. We also advice you to take a general holiday insurance at your insurance company.

What is the average age range of the participants? The average age of participants is between 20 and 30 years old. There are of course older and younger students participating in our programs.

Do most people go on the program alone? Yes, a large majority of participants go by themselves, so it's easy to make friends. You are in the same boat as everyone else, so you won't be alone.

How long do most people study for? Most people study for 1 month.

How early should I enroll? The sooner you enrol, the better it is especially in relation to the availability of courses and accommodation. But sometimes we receive subscriptions only a week before course commencement. The perfect moment would be 4 or 6 weeks before course commencement.

Should I take 6 or 4 hours per day? It depends on you. Six hours of class time will enable you to learn more, but it also requires being in class most of the day and, after class, a lot of studying and doing homework.

What is Genoa famous for and can I get additional information on that? Genoa has a rich history and it has the oldest medieval city centre in Europe. Genoa, in fact, dates back to pre-Roman times. It is surrounded both by the mountains, with a vast and impressive network of walls that protected Genoa from invasions by land; and by the sea, which boasts the second biggest harbour in the Mediterranean. Furthermore, Genoa is the home of many famous Italian specialities, such as pesto and olive oil.

How do I find my accommodation on arrival at the airport/ train station? The school sends you the address and directions how to reach your accommodation, including the prices for a bus ticket or estimation taxi fair. We also have a transfer service available. Either from Genova airport (€35,-) or Genoa railway station (€25,-).

Where do most students come from? Our students come from all over the world. Many of the students come from Japan, South Korea, Germany, Switzerland, The Netherlands, U.S.A., Australia, Austria, Poland, Hungary, Sweden, France, UK, Spain and Russia. Furthermore, we receive more and more information requests form other Asian countries, South American countries and African countries.

Can I change to a different course or temporarily interrupt a program during the course? Generally this is possible. We however only 'reschedule' on a weekly basis. Our programs are designed to be flexible. Extension of courses is neither a problem.

What happens if I am placed in a class that is not my level? Our thorough assessment will limit this to a minimum, if not exclude it. If you still think this is the case you should inform your teacher, who will immediately reschedule and direct to the proper class and level and provide you with new studying material.
