Study Abroad in Italy!

The Certificate Programs are designed to offer the students the opportunity to develop, following a complete learning path, their potential individual creativity, artistic talent and technical and professional skills. These programs provide specific skills in a range of areas, giving students a strong theoretical base on which to develop their practical work.

The Certificate Programs offer two study options: the Study Certificate and the Professional Study Certificate. Students can combine the Study Certificate and the Professional Study Certificate or choose between them according to their experience and educational levels:

Study Certificate offer a comprehensive course structure addressing students' own professional goals. The class selection has been pre-planned in order to allow students to follow the most appropriate course sequence in the area of study that they wish to pursue. The programs are offered on a one- or two-year basis, starting in either Fall or Spring semesters. Students may also enrol on a single semester basis. Beginning students must enrol in the first semester of the first year course sequence. Students with prior knowledge of the selected field of study may be admitted to the second semester, but only after submitting a portfolio of their work to be assessed and approved.

Professional Study Certificates are designed for students who already have a solid background in the areas of Interior Design. During the course of one year, students will have the opportunity to broaden their formative experience by participating in artistic projects, guided by instructors who are critically acclaimed professionals operating in the fields offered by the program.

Students applying for the Professional Study Certificate Program must provide evidence of their background in the selected area. An admissions committee will review the application and accept only those students who meet the entry requirements.

Interior Design (Year 1) - Study Certificate
(all courses are 3 credits)

1st Semester (offered Fall and Spring):

• Introduction to Interior Design
• CAD for Interior Design I
• Perspective Drawing and Rendering
• Principles of Interior and Industrial Design
• Italian Language

2nd Semester (offered Fall and Spring):

• Interior Design
• CAD for Interior Design II
• History of Modern Interior Design and Architecture
• Design Materials
• Italian Language

Interior Design (Year 2) - Professional Study Certificate
(all courses are 3 credits except where stated)

1st Semester (Fall):

• Retail Design
• Lighting Design
• Computer Rendering for Interior Design
• Product Design
• Italian Language

2nd Semester (Spring):

• Display Design
• Exhibit Design
• Furniture Design
• Web Portfolio Presentation
• Working Group Project in Interior Design

If you select Study Certificate or Professional Study Certificate program, you must follow a pre-approved list of courses. However, you can also combine studio arts and design courses with academic courses in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, Economics, Political Science, and Performing Arts by participating in one month Summer and January Intersession programs and semester and academic year programs of study

• Summer and January Programs:
  
  These programs are dedicated to students of all ages and all nationalities who wish to deepen their personal cultural experience to extend beyond traditional academic boundaries. The programs are offered during the Summer session and January Intersession. All classes (except Italian language) are taught in English.


• Semester and Academic Year Programs:
  
  Semester and Academic Year Programs are special options within our academic programs offered to internationally qualified students. The programs vary in terms of emphasis on the Italian language element and are thus designed to allow students with different backgrounds and personal preferences to choose how much time to spend developing their Italian language skills. Beyond the compulsory Italian element, students are free to choose a combination of courses from our extensive course schedule, all of which are taught in English. In this way, students can develop a course of study that best meets their own personal needs and preferences.
