Our study abroad programs in Italy are hosted by the internationally recognized accredited Italian Institution - Art Institutes in Florence. All courses are taught in English, except for Italian Language courses.

We offer a broad spectrum of different program options for international students.   • Summer and January Programs:

    These courses are dedicated to students of all ages and all nationalities who wish to deepen their personal cultural experience to extend beyond traditional academic boundaries. The courses are offered during the Summer session and January Intersession. All courses meet 48 hours a month (12 hr/week). Upon course completion students will receive a Certificate of Attendance. All classes (except Italian language) are taught in English.

  • Semester and Academic Year Programs:

    Semester and Academic Year Programs are special options within our academic programs offered to internationally qualified students. The programs vary in terms of emphasis on the Italian language element and are thus designed to allow students with different backgrounds and personal preferences to choose how much time to spend developing their Italian language skills. Beyond the compulsory Italian element, students are free to choose a combination of courses from our extensive course schedule, all of which are taught in English. In this way, students can develop a course of study that best meets their own personal needs and preferences.

    Students may apply for the Semester Programs of their choice and combine art and design courses with courses in the Humanities, Social Sciences, Business, Economics, Political Science, and Performing Arts.

You can choose from the following semester programs:

  1. Program A:
    Combintaion of 1 course of Italian language (this course meets 3 hours a week and is offered in six levels: Absolute Beginner, Intermediate 1, 2 & 3, Advanced 1 & 2) and 4 academic or art courses.

  2. Program B:
    1 course of Italian language: Superintensive Italian. This course meets 4 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Students are also required to attend weekly seminars and weekly site visits pertinent to art history. The course is offered in seven levels: Absolute beginner, Intermediate 1, 2 & 3, Advanced 1, 2 & 3. During an academic semester, 4 of the 7 levels will be covered.

  3. Program C:
    Combination of 1 course of Italian language from among the Intensive Italian courses (this course meets two hours a day, Monday through Friday. Students are also required to attend seminars and site visits pertinent to art history. The course is offered in six levels: Absolute Beginner, Intermediate 1, 2 & 3, Advanced 1 & 2. During an academic semester, 4 of the 6 levels will be covered.) and 2 academic or art courses.

  4. Program D:
    Combination of 1 course of Italian language from among the Six-hour Italian courses (this course meets 6 hours a week and is divided into 4 levels: Beginning, Intermediate 1 & 2, Advanced) and 3 academic or art courses.
