Financial Aid and Credit Transfer

Financial Aid

In many cases, it is possible for students to transfer much or all of their financial aid to IPSA study abroad programs presented on this site. However, students should discuss specific plans with study abroad advisers and financial aid counselors well in advance of the program. It is the student's responsibility to understand the home institution's requiremnents and deadlines regarding all financial aid funds.

Academic Credits

Students who wish to receive credit for our programs should contact the study abroad office or Italian language department at your college or university prior to starting the program. Present your plan to them asking for detailed requirements on how to arrange credit in advance. With the detailed information from your home-campus, we can typically provide the documentation to complete arrangements.

Medical Insurance:

All international students studying in Italy are required to have and provide proof of emergency hospitalization insurance valid for the duration of the student's studies abroad.

The school will supply all students not already in possession of an international health insurance policy with Italian health insurance (Assicurazioni Generali) which will cover emergency hospital care only.

    Please note:
This coverage is limited to emergency care at public Italian hospitals and would not cover you for emergencies outside of Italy or non-emergency medical care while in Italy. While the Italian government requires that students maintain minimum coverage, our school highly recommends that students consider purchasing additional insurance and discuss this issue with their families. Before you purchase additional coverage, please remember to also check with your current insurance carrier to determine whether coverage will extend overseas.

Please be aware that if you purchase insurance coverage specifically for the period you are abroad, most policies will not cover treatment for pre-existing conditions. If you have any condition that will require treatment while you are abroad, be sure that the policy that currently covers you will extend overseas, and be sure to take claims forms and a copy of your insurance policy with you overseas.
