History and Language of Melodrama
Melodrama is a fundamental aspect of Italian music: an expert in this sector traces a profile of the history of this art form and guides students through the study and the comprehension of composers and operas that have determined the evolution of its musical, theatrical and dramatic "language".

Opera Directing
A stage director, after the initial lessons concerning the general problems (lighting, stage sets, libretto and stage directions) illustrates the path of getting the production to stage, through the actual interpretation of the libretto and the musical score.
Each course will study a different opera, according to the following calendar:

Opera Libretti
A specialized instructor explains and illustrates the specific "language" of Opera libretti. After a general panorama and historic introduction of the operas to be studied, students may suggest excerpts or request additional operas to study with the instructor.

Vocal Technique for Lyrical Singers
A professional signer and expert in voice engineering, guides students toward a correct use of the most recent techniques for vocalists: breathing techniques and the correct use of the muscles in order to enhance the emission of sound. This course is designed for students who wish to specialize in the lyrical-operatic repertoire.

Vocal Music of the Middle Ages, the Renaissance and the Baroque
In the city where opera was born, one cannot but give tribute to the interpretative techniques of ancient music. Specialists in this specific field prepare students for the interpretation and vocality of the Italian medieval, Renaissance and Baroque repertoires, with particular attention on the Italian Madrigals and ancient arias.

Interpretation of Chamber Lyrics
The vocal repertoire of chamber or parlour music has a different context than the operatic tradition and therefore requires an appropriate interpretation. This course is designed for students who wish to specialize in this particular repertoire of Italian vocality spanning from Giulio Caccini's work the 1600's to modern times.

Neapolitan Song
For this very particular and traditional repertoire, the instructor, a specialist in Neapolitan song, teaches and helps to perfect the interpretation, the pronunciation, the technical preparation, putting into context the social and cultural implications necessary to perform this important musical phenomenon.

Group Song
Guided by a maestro, who also accompanies on the piano, the students will prepare a program of songs including pieces from varied genres (from the ancient Italian polyphonic, to the modern and contemporary).
The instructor pays close attention to the correct pronunciation, diction and comprehension. This course usually collaborates and sings with an already established and active vocal ensemble.

Diction for Singers
For those who intend to follow a career in singing, it is very important to master the linguistic rendering and pronunciation of the interpretation without hindering the quality of sound. A singing coach specialized in this sector teaches the correct pronunciation and correct emission of the Italian letters, vowels, syllables, etc.

Piano Accompaniment
A. This course is open to all students who, for professional or personal reasons, must accompany singers through their studies, rehearsals or performances. A maestro, active in the major national and international lyrical institutions, guides the student through the analysis and interpretation of the vocal score.
B. An accompanying pianist with national and international experience in the sector, accompanies the singing students in their studies. The program of study may be requested by the student.

Piano - Elementary / Advanced
The course is designed for students who either wish to begin, better or perfect piano playing. A professional instructor prepares the student for the execution of a program of music. This program may be requested by the student.

Musical Instruments
The course is designed for students who either wish to begin, better or perfect their playing of a musical instrument of choice (strings/winds/brass/percussion). Academy will provide an instructor for any instrument and for any level.
Our collaborators and instructors are career musicians, both soloists and members of Florence's major music ensembles such as Maggio Musicale Fiorentino and the Orchestra Regionale Toscana.
