Cortona a small town of the Valdichiana in eastern Tuscany, offers the best of the country and the city. This classic hill town lies between Lago Trasimeno and the Appenine mountains. It is rich in archaelogical wonders of the Etruscan, medieval, and Renaissance eras. During the summer, Cortona hosts numerous activities including film festivals, art and antique exhibitions, and a number of gastronomical fairs.

The school is officially recognized
by the Italian Ministry of Education.

Learn Italian in Cortona!

"I've just returned home to Wisconsin, from a month in Cortona. I wanted to tell you that the language tutorials with Serena Carresi (and her colleague Barbara) were outstanding! Although I was unable to attend the fifth session, I learned more in the first four sessions than in six months of listening to audio tapes. It was a fantastic experience, a real pleasure, and even though I was not a stellar pupil, I am very much looking forward to taking more lessons in Cortona, in future years. It helped me immeasurably in simple daily communication. While my grammar was probably dreadful, simply talking (intensively) with the teachers for two hours every afternoon made me feel comfortable with the language, so I was able to attempt conversations that I would not have tried before the lessons."

Best regards, and until the next session of lessons,

Cortona is within easy reach of some of the most beautiful and historic Tuscan and Umbrian towns and villages, including Arezzo and Gubbio. Through an arrangement with Cortona city officials, the School organizes guided visits and excursions not available to the general public.

The classes are offered in the Palazzo Ferretti and in the Chiostro di S. Agostino. Students will receive a resource folder containing the program of cultural activities and excursions, a guide with useful addresses in Cortona, and a list of cultural events.

We offer Italian courses of different lengths, levels, and teaching methods to satisfy a variety of student needs. The classes concentrate on the spoken language that you will encounter in daily life in Italy. Our method involves active participation in conversations, dialogues, games, and class readings. In addition, our program includes afternoon art, cultural, and gastronomic activities.

Italian Language courses available: Italian Language and Culture; individual Italian language training; combined intensive courses.
