Learn Greek in Greece:
Modern Greek Programs and Courses
In May through September, the School offers 1, 2 and 3week summer language programs by the sea in Central Greece at the foot of Mount Olympus, abode of the ancient Greek gods. These courses are intended for students and interested adults, highlighting on Modern Greek, Ancient Greek History and Greek Mythology. They are our popular Greek language courses with emphasis on a combination of sea, sun and learning.
The courses we offer October through May include private instruction, group instruction, a combination of private and group instruction, and our ever-popular immersion course. Lessons are held on all days scheduled (Monday to Friday) except on public holidays and Christmas and Easter school holidays.
Here is a brief summary of what you can expect from each of winter courses:
Private Modern Greek Language Instruction
We tailor design a special curriculum based on an assessment of your language needs, interests, and the written test and oral interview you take during your first day. You may choose a course with 2, 3 or 4 lessons per day. Minimum duration of the course: one week. You may start any Monday.
The advantage of private instruction, is that:
You learn at your own pace, not that of the slowest student in a group class.
You can choose the number of hours you want to study per day, and take them during the time of day you prefer.
Because you're the only student, you'll be speaking and thinking more in Greek. Consequently you'll learn faster.

Modern Greek Language Immersion
If you want instant results, this is the course for you. Immersion at our school consists of 8 hours of individual instruction per day. We tailor-design a special curriculum based on a combination of your language needs, goals and interests and the results of your oral exam. Here a team of four instructors will keep you immersed (thinking and speaking) in Modern Greek. Your instructors meet every other day to assess your progress, and fine-tune your curriculum as needed. Minimum duration: one week. You may start any Monday.

Group instruction
This course is offered for groups of students coming togehter (minimum 4 students).
Our method emphasizes conversation, so we want you to speak the language that you are learning. That's why we limit our group size to never more than four people in a class. We also take pride in doing a great job of fine-tuning the formation of groups based on the level of the students that are with us at any given time. Using the results of your oral exam, we'll place you in a group within one of five levels, which helps reduce the differences in language proficiency between you and your colleagues. Group courses start on the first of every month (October through May).
Group courses are offered in regular and intensive schedules:
- Regular courses: 10 group lessons per week (0ne lesson = 45 minutes). Course duration: 8 weeks.
- Intensive courses: 20 group lessons per week. Course duration: 4 weeks.

Methodology
A modern conversational approach to language learning:
With our Methodology, you will learn to speak a foreign language more quickly and easier than you may expect.
The goal of our methodology is to make you comfortable using your new language in the practical situations that you encounter in everyday life, for example: travel, conducting business, meeting people, using the telephone, meetings, participating in a conversation effectively, etc. With our communicative and dynamic approach, you will rapidly find yourself speaking in a new language.
We use our own textbook in the learning process. Click here for more information about Greek Grammar for Non-native speakers.

Language Levels and Evaluations
Student levels are measured precisely and progress is constantly monitored.
We offer Modern Greek language courses to students at all levels, from those for complete beginners to those for advanced Greek language teachers wishing to perfect their knowledge and use of the language they teach. Prior to the start of your course you will take a special oral entrance exam that has been specifically designed to accurately place you within our curriculum. Based on these results we know at just what level you are, and with what material you should begin working
All our students are given the opportunity to obtain official recognition of their level of language competency by sitting for the European Consortium Examination for the Certificate of Attainment in Modern Greek. This is available in four levels of proficiency and has been developed by a consortium of European Universities, with the University of Thessaloniki being a participating member.

College Credit
Most students come to our School to advance their Modern Greek language capabilities in as short a period of time as possible, and academic credit is not normally a concern. However, if requested we are more than willing to provide your university with an Official Transcript and course information such as: course syllabus, total hours taken, teacher evaluation, attendance report, curriculum covered, final exam with letter grade, etc., in order to grant academic credit for your course. Our Modern Greek language courses are presently approved for credit by a number of North American universities.
