A special feature of the school program is the emphasis on conversational French. Students in the intensive courses have either one or two lessons in small conversation groups. Students are grouped by age and mutual interests in addition to their knowledge of French. Being grouped by age and mutual interest means that conversations focus on topics of interest to all.
Students develop their oral fluency, converting passive knowledge into active and confident command through a variety of exercises. Advanced students practice their French in discussions and debates.
Placement in the different courses is based on a personal interview and a written test. The school program combines practical French Language learning with interesting social and cultural activities and excursions. At all levels, emphasis is placed on the practical use of spoken and written French. The language is learned in realistic situations, reinforced by appropriate background information on the French way of life.
The student body is primarily European (over 12 nationalities). Participants come from a variety of backgrounds - students (undergraduate and graduate), business people, teachers and professors, physicians and attorneys, senior citizens, and tourists, etc.
