Spanish Language Schools in El Salvador:
Program and courses
Our program is designed around a full-immersion pedagogy which includes intensive Spanish instruction and the chance to put what you learn into practice through a homestay with a Salvadoran family.
Intensive Spanish Language Courses
We offer Spanish language instruction at all levels, and our basic lesson plan consists of twenty hours of study a week, four hours day. You can begin on any Monday, and will be given a placement exam upon your arrival to determine your level of instruction. Our class size is limited to 8 students, and one-on-one instruction is available.
Our instructors are experienced language teachers with degrees from the national universities, and our Director, Prof. Nelson Pacheco Martinez, is bilingual and has nine years of teaching experience. He can also help to facilitate your visit, helping with tasks which are difficult for foreigners, such as renting a house or car, making travel arrangements, or just getting your food the way you like it.
College credit is generally available through your home institution, our program will issue transcripts and you will need to document the classwork you do so that your university can evaluate the courses.
Semester and Summer Programs
We offer an Intensive 8-week Summer program and two 14-week semester programs (Fall and Spring Semesters). Each program includes four three credit, three-week (or two-week in Sunmmer) courses (Spanish 101, 201, 301, 401 series).
Spanish 101, 201, 301 and 401 series are our introductory, intermediate, advanced and seminar level programs. At the introductory level, the semester program begins with Spanish 101 and moves through 102, 201, and 202 during the semester. The following semester, the student could take 301, 302, 401, and 402, completing our four levels of Spanish instruction.
400-level courses may be designed with the assistance of the instructor to focus on specific topics and areas of interest, such as:
- Salvadoran Archeology, Pre-Columbian
- Salvadoran History since 1932
- Ecology and Geography of El Salvador
- Political Transitions in El Salvador
- The FMLN and ARENA in the Post-War Period
- Agricultural and Environmental Issues
