Activities
We offer 2-3 half-day activities every week, transportation included. We invite you to visit museums, ruins, beaches, shopping, and waterfalls!
Explore El Salvador!
We are a unique program in that we offer students the option of studying in La Libertad, in the coffee country of Santa Ana, or in the capital, San Salvador. You can study at one, two, or all three locations which allows you to really get to know the country.
We offer 2 and 3 excursions per week for students and travelers. Destinations depend on whether you study in La Libertad, Santa Ana, or San Salvador.
Longer trips to other attractions, like Perquin, Copan, and Rio Dulce can be arranged.
Favorites are:
- Nahua-Pipil Mayan ruins like Tazumal, San Andres, and Joya de Ceren;
- waterfalls like Los Chorros; lakes like Lago de Coatepeque;
- volcanoes like Volcan de Izalco and Cerro Verde;
- museums and churches in the capital;
- coffee-growing towns like Chiltiupan and Ahuachapan;
- beaches and surf spots including El Zunzal, Bocalio, Metalio, La Bocana, Punta Roca, La Paz, and the entire Costa Balsamo and Costa del Sol, where hundreds of miles of undiscovered sandy beaches and rocky points await.
La Libertad is an excellent place for surfing. A typical day begins with coffee, fresh fruit, and class at 8am, to take advantage of the cool mornings, but as an alternative, classes can begin at 11 to accomodate morning glass surf conditions.
It would be very helpfull to know what serf boards to bring... Bring a 6'4" shortboard, a 7'6" mini gun, an 8'0" fun board in case it gets flat, a 9'0" longboard for El Zunzal, and a big gun if you are optimistic. Plus a couple of used boards, to give away to the locals. But if you had to bring just one, a 6'4" shortboard trifin would be fine. Punta Roca is a big fast right, but other longboardable breaks are nearby. The beach break at La Paz is a good place for beginners, unless the surf is up. When you see waves crashing into and over the end of the pier, you know it will be a good day. Mornings are glassy and the wind usually kicks up by 11, and often dies again towards sunset.
