Students can take special elective courses in Literature, Philosophy and Phonetics taught in Spanish (enrollment for 12 weeks).

All elective courses are offered on demand. Students must enroll in these courses at least two months prior to arrival. We advise to make two choices of electives in case one doesn’t open.

Advanced Spanish students can enroll directly with Costa Rican students in Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, Digital Animation, Film, Cinema and T.V. and Photography (enrollment for 16 weeks). Please contact us for more information about direct enrollment.

1. SPN 3020- LECTURAS SELECTAS DE LA LITERATURA LATINOAMERICANA (3 cr.)
   Descripción:
   Estudio de autores, corrientes literarias o particularidades de género en la literatura Latinoamericana.
   Objetivo:
   Investigar obras literarias prominentes, autores y particularidades de género para introducir al estudiante a proyectos literarios de gran impacto cultural en Latinoamérica.

2. SPN 4110- ESCRITORAS CONTEMPORANEAS COSTARRICENSES (3 cr).
   Estudio de un número representativo de obras y temas de escritoras costarricenses del siglo XX...

3. SPN 3050 Fonética y Fonología (3 cr)
   En este curso se aprenden métodos y herramientas de la lingüística descriptiva aplicada a la fonética y articulación.
   
   
4. FINE 1161 Fotografía básica.
   3 créditos
   Introduce técnicas y conceptos de la fotografía como arte. Hace énfasis en la fotografía como medio de objetivos formales y expresivos. El estudiante debe aportar su propia cámara ajustable.
