Accommodations.

To encourage cross-cultural communication and in order to help students become more involved in Costa Rican lifestyle, the school offers choices in accommodations with local families. Hotels and apartments are available upon request.

Almost 90% of our families are within walking distance. Some houses 10 minute bus ride. Accommodation in a host family allows you to get the maximum out of your course. Nowhere else will you so directly experience real Spanish life. Nothing could be better to help improve your language skills. The word "family'" should not be taken too literally, because your family could also be just a single parent who takes in students because he or she enjoys the company. You wouldn't be the first to go out together, or to keep in contact with the family after your return home.

Family provides two meals, and lunch can be taken at the University´s cafeteria for $3.00 or in nearby restaurants.

The following are provided within the homestay program: sheets, towels, pillow, blankets, laundry once a week, telephone (students may only receive calls. Local calls are also limited. Students should plan to bring an international calling card and purchase a local telephone card upon arrival.)

Practical Information

• You may change to a different family during the first week if you are not satisfied, because the most important thing for us is that you feel at home.
• In selecting host families, we do not look for luxury and comfort in the material sense. Nevertheless, you can count on personal attention, help and advice. You should not expect too much luxury in a student flat either, although of course all the necessary amenities are there.
• You will be given the address of your accommodation together with other detailed information before your departure. The information provided includes a brief description of your home stay.
• We guarantee that there will be no more than three foreign students staying with each family.
• Are you a vegetarian, are you allergic to house pets, do you want to be with a host family with young children or do you have other personal wishes or preferences? Let us know as soon as possible and we will do our utmost to comply with them.
