Teachers and Chinese Teaching Methods

More than 80% of all teachers at our schoos have over 10 years experience in teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language. University Professors and associate professors with advanced degrees in Teaching Chinese as a foreign language and/or linguistics make up 60% of the faculty. Our teachers have gained a reputation among the overseas students for their sense of responsibility, professional skill in overseas education and remarkable academic achievements.

Our teachers use modern methods and individual approach to ensure that our students have a good style of study, mastery of basic theory, fundamental knowledge of Chinese and Chinese language skills as well as the problem-solving ability, while adjusting the teaching process in accordance with the needs and characteristics of different programs, instruction media and student`s backgrounds.

Levels

We offer instruction at 4 Chinese language levels set by the Office of the State:


• Basic Level of Chinese Language
• Elementary of Chinese Language
• Middle Level of Chinese Language
• High Level of Chinese Language

Upon arrival, students should first take the level placement test at our school and then be grouped into different classes according to their scores. The group has a maximum of 3 students.

We offer Intensive Chinese course (25 lessons per week) and Extensive Chinese course with 15 lessons per week.

To progress from the absolute beginner to the Elementary and Middle Level, students need 4 months of intensive and 6 to 8 months of extensive course. It will take 14 - 18 months (intensive) or 16 - 24 months to complete Elementary and Middle levels and achieve the High level of the Chinese language. After achieving th High level, students may take an Official HSK test for further degree studies at Chinese universities.

Chinese Language and Cultural Immersion





To make your immersion program complete, we offer all courses at your Chinese teacher's home. This unique option allows you not only to practice and improve your Chinese language skills in a natural environment, but also exposes you to the Chinese culture.

We also offer an outstanding cultural activities program. One excursion per week is included in the program fee. You will visit:


• South Putuo Temple, which is situated below the Five Old Gentlemen Peaks in the southern part of the island of Xiamen. It was first built in the Tang Dynasty and is one of the sacred places of Buddhism in Southern Fujian. Inside the temple there are the Heaven King's Hall, the Daxiong Hall, the Great Compassion Hall, all of which are built in an exquisite and grand style.
  
  
• Gulangyu Island with its famous Dragon Head Hill, Sunlight Rock and Shuzhuang Park with Renqiu Pavilion, the Forty-four Bridge, the Piled-up Rocks, the artificial hills, Danying Veranda and the Insensate Rock Room.
  
  
• 10,000 Stone Botanical Garden, a unique combination of park and botanical garden. With historic remains scatterring about, this place became a scenic spot for tourists since ancient time. Xue Qifeng, a famous scholar of early Qing Dynasty,praised it in one of his poems like this---"Hills and rocks combine all the views and the garden has been claiming unparalleled wonder through the ages." Wanshi Botanical Garden heads the list of Xiamen eight views by holding five of them.There are also nearly 100 stone inscriptions in rocks.
