Valparaíso and Viña del Mar. These twin cities are just ten minutes apart by car. Valparaíso is the second-largest city and the main port of Chile and is located 70 miles form Santiago, the capital of Chile. Valparaíso is also a home of the Chilean Congress. The city enjoys a spectacular location between the mountains and the sea and a mediterranean climate.

Viña del Mar, Chile's Tourism Capital, is the premier coastal resort. You'll find fabulous beaches and a bustling commercial sector. Viña del Mar is known as the Ciudad Jardín (Garden City) thanks to its lavish gardens and subtropical atmosphere.

Semester and Academic Year Study Abroad Programs!

We offer semester, academic year and summer Study Abroad Programs in different academic areas. We also offer a very special Spanish Language and Culture 3-week program in January.

You may design your own Semester Study Abroad program in Valparaíso, Chile and attend classes with your Chilean peers. You can choose from a wide range of disciplines that include many areas of academic studies.

There are no special language proficiency requirements; however since all the coursework is in Spanish, it is recommendable to have a reasonable background in Spanish.

All our students have the right to take Intensive Spanish & Chilean Culture courses given at the University. Thus, there is an Intensive Spanish & Chilean culture course that lasts 90 contact hours (Beginner, Intermediate low, Intermediate high and Advanced levels) and a Written Spanish course that lasts 46 contact hours (Advanced level). As a condition of acceptance some students will be required to enroll in one or both of these courses.

Our Mixed Program Concept enables more students to benefit from studying abroad in Chile. You can start in January with participation in the Intensive Spanish Program, have an opportunity to explore Chile and meet people in February and enroll in the academic semester program of your choice March through July. In addition to academic studies, you can also enroll in intensive Spanish classes.
