Learn Spanish in Santiago, Chile!

Private Instruction

We tailor design a special curriculum based on an assessment of your language needs, interests, and the written test and oral interview you take during your first day. Depending upon the intensity of your program you will be assigned two or three instructors during your course. The advantage of private instruction, is that:

You learn at your own pace, not that of the slowest student in a group class.

You can choose the number of hours you want to study per day, and take them during the time of day you prefer.

You can cancel and re-schedule classes at no extra cost provided you notify us by 5:00 p.m. the day prior to classes.

Because you're the only student, you'll be speaking and thinking more in Spanish. Consequently you'll learn faster.

Immersion

If you want instant results, this is the course for you. Immersion at our School consists of 7.5 hours of individual instruction per day from 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM. We tailor-design a special curriculum based on a combination of your language needs, goals and interests and the results of your oral exam. Here a team of four instructors will keep you immersed (thinking and speaking) in Spanish. Your instructors meet every other day to assess your progress, and fine-tune your curriculum as needed.

Here's a sample of a typical day of immersion program:

	A quick review of what you learned the previous day and then role-play a real-life situation in the language you are learning, based on a scene from one of the School's in-class video laserdiscs.
	Practice new vocabulary and verb tenses through conversation and entertaining exercises.
	Time for lunch at a nearby restaurant with your instructor, all in Spanish.
	No, it's not time for a nap! Grab a cup of coffee and let's see a segment in DVD/video laserdisc format. Learn new vocabulary and discuss the cultural differences between your countries, which are depicted in the film.
	A review of new material learned this morning, and from yesterday's classes. As an option you may elect to take a short excursion with your teacher to practice what you have been learning, but in real life situations.

Group instruction

Never more than 4 people in the class.

Our method emphasizes conversation, so we want you to speak the language that you are learning. That's why we limit our group size to never more than four people in a class. We also take pride in doing a great job of fine-tuning the formation of groups based on the level of the students that are with us at any given time. Using the results of your oral exam, we'll place you in a group within one of seven levels, which helps reduce the differences in language proficiency between you and your colleagues.

Combo courses

As an alternative to taking just a private or group course, we offer you the option of our combo course, which many students take advantage of. This allows you to combine a group program with a two hour per day private course, in order to not only improve your general communication skills in the language, but also to tailor your course to meet your specific needs or interest. For example, if you are interested in learning specific vocabulary and expressions used in business, law, medicine, etc., you can focus on those topics during your afternoon private classes.

Special courses

In addition to our standard Spanish classes in Santiago, we also offer special workshops. These can be on such subjects as the poetry of Pablo Neruda , Chilean/Latin American folklore, current events, etc. These workshops are designed to be enjoyed by students at most levels of Spanish and therefore utilize audio/visual aids and are very hands-on and student interactive.

Language Levels and Evaluations

Student levels are measured precisely and progress is constantly monitored.

We offer courses to students at all levels, from those for complete beginners to those for advanced foreign language teachers wishing to perfect their knowledge and use of the language they teach. Prior to the start of your course you will take a special oral entrance exam that has been specifically designed to accurately place you within our curriculum. Based on these results we know at just what level you are, and with what material you should begin working

College Credit

Most students come to our School to advance their Spanish language capabilities in as short a period of time as possible, and academic credit is not normally a concern.
