Practicing Medical English Course
This course is intended to be taken with the
Core Medical English Course. It is
designed to reinforce the material learned in that course.
Practicing Medical English is not as
intense as Core Medical English but it is calculated to help the student commit the Core material to long-term
memory. This is done by using the material learned in the Core course.
The two courses are coordinated so that the same
material that is being taught in the Core course is being reinforced in this
course. The fact that there is a maximum of 4 students in the class assures the
students that they have ample class time to use what they have learned.
Like the Core course
Practicing Medical English is ongoing on a three month rotating basis. All
components of the course will be taught every month but the content will not
repeat itself until the fourth month. This means that a student can enter the
course at any time, and can choose a one, two or three month course.
The program is 15 hours a
week and includes 15 hours of learning which include use of the language
laboratory, shadowing of medical professionals, conversation and pronunciation
classes.
