Study Medical English in Vancouver!

Programs are intended for adults in the medical professions, doctors, nurses, medical students, pharmacists, medical technicians and other professions where medical terminology and usage is needed.

At our school, we feel that participation is of prime importance in order to facilitate the interaction between students and teacher, and therefore she does not have classes larger than four students. This is an Institute for students who really want to learn. We believe that learning is best achieved with a mixture of intense learning and more relaxed practice. Therefore her curriculum has half a day of concentrated teaching and the other half of the student's day is occupied with less intense learning activities that complement and consolidate what was learned during the half-day of dynamic instruction.

Hours of instruction are 9:00 AM to 12:00PM and 1:00PM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday. The School is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM so that students can use the facilities including internet and library. The modular course structure allows students to enter the program at any time. There is a four-month diploma program and one, two and three month certificate programs. We can also accommodate students with special scheduling requirements such as the one and two day presentation preparation programs.

• Core Medical English Language Course
  This course is the heart of the school curriculum. This class concentrates on the aspects of the English Language that are useful specifically for the medical professional.


• Medical Presentations in English
  This course is designed for presenters unaccustomed to speaking English who need to give papers in English at Medical Conventions or Conferences. It concentrates on delivery and correct pronunciation to ensure understanding by the audience.


• General English
  This is an ESL course for students that need to improve their General English level before entering the Medical English Language Program. It will bring the student up to the level required for entry to the Core Medical English Language Course.

To enter the Core Medical English Language program, the student is required to have at least Intermediate level of English. Before the course starts, there will be an interview (in person or by telephone) to determine English level.

If the student is not at Intermediate level, student can take the General English course. This is an ESL course for students that need to improve their English level before entering the Medical English Program.

There is a maximum of 6 students in General English course so that each student has plenty of opportunity to speak and interact with the teacher. This number will be reduced to 4 students per class if the student is taking the Core Medical English program.
