Monday - Friday (AM): Academic Preparation Core Program
The morning Academic Preparation Core Program provides general instruction from Monday to Thursday (8:30 - 11:30). On Fridays from 8:30 - 11:30, students will prepare and give seminar presentations about an academic topic of their choosing. Teachers are professionally trained and certified.
Monday - Friday (PM): Electives + Activities
Each student has a number of credits to use for elective afternoon classes and educational activities. The student's program determines the number of credits. 1 credit = 90-minute lesson.
- Bronze Program: 15 hours/week (no afternoon classes)
- Silver Program: 24 hours/week (15 hours of Core Program + 6 elective credits)
- Gold Program: 30 hours/week (15 hours of Core Program + 10 credits)
Program Contents
- Grammar: textbook grammar, peer correcting, grammar games, and assessment tests
- Pronunciation: textbook, listening tapes, tongue twisters, poems, music, and intonation
- Listening skills: music and dialogues, dictation, conversation, and telephone skills
- Writing skills: students may keep an English journal about their life in Canada
- Vocabulary: textbooks, games, newspapers, magazines, and interacting with the community
