Study Portuguese in Maceio!

Since 1991, our School in Maceio, has been devoted to providing high quality, personalized language instruction, specializing in Portuguese (for non-Brazilians), Portuguese and Spanish (for Brazilians and students from other exchange countries). At our School we are committed to excellence and are proud to be the only member of IALC (International Association of Language Centers) in South America.

We offer both group and private instruction, from absolute beginners to advanced levels. Courses are focused on conversation, though there may be some writing requirements to be completed at home. Approximately 95% of class time is conducted in Portuguese. The textbook is excellent, developed at the University of Sao Paulo. We also offer Bildungsurlaub for German employees as well as University Credits for American students.

Language lessons focus on communication; beyond grammar books and written exercises, our professors include a variety of oral and listening elements with up-to-date technology to stimulate a comprehensive concept of the Portuguese language. Students are encouraged to interact with their classmates, their professors and the entire staff. Our professors also dedicate their creativity and time to the organization of various activities during the students« free hours, and weekend days.

We work hard to create an intimate atmosphere both during and after class time that welcomes, inspires, challenges and responds to each individual student. We have taught many students and executives from all over the world. Judging by what they tell us and the exam results they achieve, our students find studying with a us a truly satisfying experience.

Apart from our own authentic teaching materials, we boasts modern teaching materials and equipment. Computers, CDs and video are among the aids used in everyday courses as well as sessions devoted to culture, regional studies, literature and business. Use of the multimedia library and our computer facilities is a good way of adding to and reinforcing the skills acquired in class work.

We believe it is important to vary teaching methods in our Portuguese courses as much as possible. Every group and person is different, thus, our teachers use an individual approach and flexibly adapt their teaching methods to students' respective learning needs. We supplement various course books with authentic teaching materials such as newspaper and magazine articles, audio-visual materials, and activities inside and outside the classroom.

One of our fundamental principles is to ensure a maximum of spoken communication. You are encouraged to practice your spoken Portuguese in real-life situations, with your teacher, and with other participants, in pairs and groups. Many activities outside of school are created with this idea of oral communication as well.

Upon arrival, students take a placement test to determine their level, and also decide which cultural programs they would like to participate in. In the event that students feel that they were misplaced a Placement Grievance Procedures is in place for their placements to be reconsidered.

To better respond to the individual needs and abilities of our students we offer 5 different levels.

• Beginner
• Elementary
• Intermediate
• Upper-Intermediate
• Advanced

Small classes of maximum 5 students, guarantee that you will receive individual attention in a fun, interactive learning environment. Average number of students in school: 35 (high season), 20 (rest of the year).

Main age group: 20 - 35 (2/3 of students). Students from the ages 17 to 65 regularly attend the school.

8:00 12:00 - General Courses (group and private)
1:30 3:30 - Additional Private classes (Group + Private combination)
