Application Deadlines and Minimum Age

Minimum age is 16 years of age.

Citizens of the United States, Australia, Canada, Japan and many other countries in possession of a valid passport, are not required to obtain a visa for Austria for a period of up to three months if traveling as a tourist. In this case, we must a completed application and fees no later than 30 days before the program starts.

We also accept last minute applications. However, please note that acceptance on all courses is subject to space availability. All applications are considered in the order they received and we can confirm your place availability only after we receive your application.

If you are required to obtain a visa to Austria, please apply as early as possible. The process for receiving the visa can take 2 months or more. Please contact the Austrian Embassy or Consulate in your country: www.aussenministerium.at.

Financial Aid

In many cases, it is possible for students to transfer much or all of their financial aid to IPSA study abroad programs. However, students should discuss specific plans with study abroad advisers and financial aid counselors well in advance of the program. It is the student's responsibility to understand the home institution's requiremnents and deadlines regarding all financial aid funds.

Academic Credits

Students who wish to receive credit for our programs should contact the study abroad office or language department at your college or university prior to starting the program. Present your plan to them asking for detailed requirements on how to arrange credit in advance. How to apply?

You need to complete and return the Application. A non-refundable application fee of US$100 and a tuition deposit of $200 (or $400 if you apply for a 12-week or longer program) are required with your application. The tuition deposit is part of the cost of your course and is deducted from the total tuition fees after conversion in Euros. The tuition deposit is not an additional cost. Please note that your application will be considered only when your payment of the application fee and the tuition deposit has been received.

Online Secure Application Form. You may apply online if you pay the application and registration fees and the tuition deposit by credit card. We accept VISA and MasterCard. In our Online Secure Form, we utilize the Secure Socket Layer (SSL) authentication and RC4 128 bit encryption technology. SSL encryption protects information being transmitted across the internet to our processing center.

Printable Application Form: Click here to access a printable Application Form, print it out from your browser, complete the form and send it by fax or mail to the IPSA Enrollment Center. Using this printable application form, you can make your payment of the application fee and the tuition deposit by credit card, wire transfer and money order.

Upon receiving your application and required payments, we will send you an e-mail (or fax) confirmation and invoice within four to five business days. The confirmation will contain the details of your course and all pertinent costs. The invoice will be issued in Euros. You can make a payment in U.S. Dollars or in Euros according to the current exchange rates. The payment of the balance of fees is due upon receipt of invoice. Your place will be confirmed only when the full payment has been received. Once we receive your full payment, you will be sent a visa support letter (official booking confirmation) which is necessary for visa application.

The official booking confirmation of the German course is to be presented when applying for a visa and takes the place of the "invitation". No "invitations" are issued by the school. On request we send this confirmation by e-mail or by fax to the Austrian Embassy where you apply for the visa.

You may pay the balance by wire transfer, check or money order, or by credit card. We accept Visa and Mastercard. We will send you payment options and details in the registration confirmation.

Holidays

Classes are normally not held and school facilities are closed on national holidays. Compensation will not be made for public holidays.

Attendance

Attendance is an integral part of your course and an important staple of the learning process. Neither refunds, nor class time will be given for classes not attended.

Insurance

You are not insured against illness or accidents, theft or loss of personal possessions through the school or those offering the accommodation. We therefore highly recommend to take a medical and personal insurance policy valid in Austria.

Postponement of Courses

Students who wish to postpone their start date must contact us by written notice as early as possible. If this notice does not reach the school within 20 days before the original start date, a fee of EUR 200.00 will be charged.

Cancellation before arrival

Students who do not obtain a visa, will be refunded the complete amount paid minus the non-refundable application fee and the tuition deposit and the administration fee in the amount of 100 Euros plus bank charges when we receive a copy of the consulate's written refusal at least 30 weekdays before the course begins. Any refunds will be made within 30 days of cancellation notification (if visa was not requested) or receiving the above mentioned documents.

If a student withdraws from the School more than 30 weekdays prior to entering Austria, all tuition fees will be refunded, except the application fee, the tuition deposit and a EUR 100 processing fee and any applicable bank fees.

If a student withdraws from the School less than 30 weekdays, but more than 7 weekdays prior to the beginning of classes or entering Austria, 40% of all fees are refunded, except the application fees, the tuition deposits and the EUR 100 processing fee plus bank charges if any.

If a student withdraws from the School 7 weekdays or less prior to the starting date, no refunds are given. This also applies to long-term bookings.

If a student, already in Austria, withdraws after acceptance to the School, or uses the Letter of Acceptance from the School to obtain admission into Austria, or to extend an existing visa, the School will retain all fees.

If accommodation is booked, only the fee for the academic program is refunded, the fee for accommodation cannot be refunded.

Cancellation after the course and/or lodging has started

In no case money will be refunded once the course and/or lodging has started. No refund can be given for partial attendance or the discontinuance or interruption of the course. Deposits and fees are not transferable from person to person. Students are advised to take out cancellation insurance with their local provider in case they need to cancel their courses. We reserve the right to cancel any class.

Persistent Misconduct

The School reserves the right to terminate without notice the course and accommodation of any student who persistently misconducts him/herself in classes or in the family. Cancellation charges apply as above.

Force Majeure.

It is a basic stipulation of the agreement/contract between students and IPSA or consortium member schools or representatives, that neither IPSA, nor any of its member schools or representatives, is liable to the students in cases where IPSA or the school is unable to fulfill any services to which they are contractually bound because of labor disputes or other reasons beyond their control.
